Did anyone else notice this when their baby's umbilical cord fell off?

Yes I am an first time mother. Yesterday my baby's umbilical cord fell off I wouldn't of thought nothing of it but when it fell off it left an scab on his belly on. I was just wondering if this was normal and should these heal on it's own or do I need to take him to the doctor. It doesn't look infected or anything. Also now that there is an scab is it okay to completely give him an bath or should I still be sponge bathing him? Thanks is everyone in advance for helping me out.
