Is this friend selfish?

I paid to do a tandem skydive and drove about 3 hours with my best friend. We got there and I forget my I.D so I could not do the skydive. Since my best friend was with me and we traveled a long time to get there I let him do my skydive (he didn't ask for it) instead and only asked for him to pay me back what he could (at least a 100 bucks though). I only asked for half back because I thought he was a good friend plus he didn't expect to go skydive and wasn't planning it previously. Iooking back I feel like I should not of done that because he only did the bare minimum to pay me back (100 dollars) and never really showed that he was greatful for it. I think a truly good friend would have paid back in full even though it wasn't ask and it not that showed sincere appreciation. He had the time of this life and loved it. What do you think?
