Family recipes that you miss?

Oh boy,what a greta question! My Grandmother was german &she used to make a dessert called peach Kuehen (?) & I'm telling you none of us sisters have ever duplicated it! It was in a 9x12 pan & had a pie crust & peaches that were halved & there was a cream like "custard' pored over them & a little Cinnamon type flavoring sprinkled on top. It was the best! Then long with that my grandfather,who was actually a baker,used to make the best Easter Egg cakes! My sister,who is the "baker" among us did get his cake pan for making those,but I'm sorry they are just not the same! Both Grandparents had written down their "recipes" that were a pinch of this & that & just done by memory & our "memories" are not nearly as good as they made!
