Mitsubishi Eclipse Transmission help?

OK so I have a 1999 Mitsubishi eclipse Spyder (2.4L). Me and my dad are going to replace the and I was wondering if I could put a different torque converter in it to make it go faster. Can I do that or what? Or what can I replace in the to make it run faster? Thanks
