My employer is going bankrupt what are my entitlements?
My employer is a sole practitioner and will be going bankrupt in the next couple of months. He is a criminal solicitor and it may be another firm will be taking over the caseload as he has to complete a novation agreement. There are only 5 people working at our firm. I have been in employment there since March 2002 but there was a transfer of undertaking which took place in approximately April 2006 when he broke away from his previous partners thus becoming a sole practitioner. What entitlements am I likely to receive as I am very very worried about the situation. Also he is going to the High Court on the 25 May for the bankruptcy proceedings how will things be worried out with regarding to continuing to work or will the bankruptcy be immediate and mean I will be out of a job on that date. Many thanks.
