What do you think of my introduction to my essay?

Sometimes pressures from society force characters to make moral choices. In The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, John Proctor is forced to make a decision that will ultimately compromise his life in order to defend his values. Similarly, in The Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, Reverend Dimmesdale’s sin disrupts his conscience, forcing him to rid his sin to the point of public absolution. By seeing how the pressures of society forced both Proctor and Dimmesdale to make moral choices, it is apparent that responsibility and personal integrity affect not only their choices, but also loved ones and the entire community.
