Why is my mother superior to the God she worships?
My mother is a devout Catholic. She is fully aware that I categorically reject her belief system as nothing but mythology and palpable absurdities. Yet, as far as I can tell, she loves me no less than she would if I was a firm believer. Her love for me appears to be unconditional. Too bad the same can't be said for her God -- according to Scripture, He will roast me in an eternal "lake of fire" for my lack of faith. I will get the same punishment as Hitler, Stalin, Mao, [insert your favorite m murderer here], etc. -- for no other crime but the failure to properly worship this omnipotent, yet incredibly sensitive Being. Say what you want about such a God, but please spare me the nonsense that He is all-loving and merciful. What irritates me is that my mother is incapable of realizing her own moral superiority to the God she worships. Religion has warped her mind into believing that she is the "sinner." A pity.
